The Aboriginal community is unique, with strong ties to family and culture. However, for generations, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders have suffered a lack of government support in regard to social, cultural, emotional and community issues. Under previous governments, initiatives for early childhood education and development in Australia have centered on populism, leaving Indigenous Australians without a voice.

In the last decade, an alarming trend has seen the attendance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples drop from as early as the age of five, with nearly half the population of Indigenous Australians ceasing study by the time they reach high school. Although these figures are incredible, the issue has remained unaddressed in mainstream media.

Our team consists of communication activists on behalf of Aboriginal Child Equity Services Australia (ACESA) that address issues of equity in education for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children (K-6). Our aim is to spur the revision of school-based initiatives to promote the inclusion of Indigenous primary school students into academic programs that foster a safe, friendly and exciting environment for learning.
